Who are “The Team”?
The Capel Military Vehicle show is run and put on by the Aldhurst Military Vehicle Company and exists with a few simple aims. These are to provide a good, honest fun filled family event that promotes Military Vehicles and period Re-Enactments and more importantly, to raise funds in support of Military Charities.
The core team is very small and consists of a dedicated band of like minded individuals led by our chairman John Dale. In addition, these are augmented by an ever increasing number of volunteers who provide invaluable assistance in the run up to and clear up after the event. We are very pleased that year on year that number is steadily growing. Without these additional volunteers we would struggle to get the show off the ground, so if this is something that interests you, please get in touch with us, we have a role for everyone, from helping with the setup and build, marshalling, helping on the gate or just general assistance to the show. We would love to hear from you.
Chairman – John Dale
John is an avid collector of all things military and is also lucky enough to be the manager of Aldhurst Farm where the show is held. With over 500 acres of land at his disposal, it is no surprise that he has the largest collection both in number and physical size of vehicles. Amongst his ‘toys’ he lists:
- T34-85 World War II Russian Main Battle Tank, complete with functioning gun. (If you have been to the show before you will definitely remember this one)
- GMC 2 ½ Ton World War II American Truck
- RAF Fordson World War II Tractor
- 1943 BSA Motorcycle
- World War II American M16 Half Track (Shared Owner)
In addition to running the Capel Military Vehicle Show, all of the team are members of the Military Vehicle Trust, an organisation comprising of enthusiasts dedicated to researching, restoring, running and showing vintage and veteran military vehicles. You do not have to own a vehicle to become a member, all you need is an interest in all things military.
As part of the MVT, we meet every second Wednesday of the month at 2000hrs at the Lamb at Lambs Green near Rusper West Sussex RH12 4RG.
Please feel free to come along and join in with the group and meet the team.
